The First and Original Austin Tea Party was formed in March 2009 during the planning of our Independence Day Take Back America Tea Party. We looked to you, our supporters, as speakers and contributors to the largest Tea Party event held in Austin.... and you all exceeded expectations. We had made our mark and moved forward into the Healthcare Debate. The infamous video of our supporters chanting "Just Say No" during an August Lloyd Doggett Town hall would be the first of many encounters with a liberal unwilling to listen to his constituents. Next we worked with AFP and Liberty Institute in the Social Studies Curriculum Debates where we took the lead in assuring Tea Party Groups across the state would have their voices heard in the education of our children. This was a major victory and was a direct result of Tea Parties across the state emailing and testifying before the SBOE. In the fall of 2010 we held our first "Citizens Impacting Legislation" seminar with a follow-up early this year and were blown away by Tea Party member attendance... Thank you! April 2011 will bring yet another endeavor of The Austin Tea Party as we work with King Street Patriots to "True the Vote" in Travis and surrounding counties. Without grassroots activists like YOU we would not exist. Each of you CAN and DO Impact Legislation one bill at a time! Together we are Taking Back America, Taking Back Texas and Taking Back Our Schools!
Heather Liggett Contrary to main-stream media, DHS reports and our President, I am not affiliated with any groups, I am not being paid for my efforts and I'm not an "extremist". What I am is a stay at home mom who refuses to allow the constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all our children in our founding document to be destroyed. Growing up in the Middle East in the 80’s gave me the ability to see America through the eyes of foreign cultures. Freedom is the most desired aspect of American Life and the root of all our success; it must be saved for our future generations. America was founded on the hope and optimism of a few men. Those few men had a passion for a new country founded on conservative ideals, capitalism and religious freedom and it was their small grassroots effort that spawned the United States of America being the leader of the free world.
This great country has achieved more in her short existence than any other nation
and it all began with one voice, one idea and the desire to be free.
