Donate to Dr. Donna Campbell and/or George Morovich both running for the Republican ticket to run against Doggett in 2010....Doggett has raised over $2 million in a non-election year....
Congressman Doggett has yet to tell the truth about August 1st and he continues to insult his constituents. After the KVET interview and the MoveOn scam on August 29th I can no longer remain silent about his lies and have written this letter asking for a public apology!
This letter has been emailed, faxed, snail mail and hand delivered and I have yet to get a response from Doggett! 10/12/09
Congressman I am writing to demand your apology to my parents and many others. Two days prior to the August 1st town hall you held at Randall's, members of a grassroots movement (who came together in support of the Austin Tea Parties) received invitations via post card and newsletter from you. These grassroots movement members do not hold meetings; are not organized; and we are non-partisan. We exist because of a mutual concern for our country, liberty and future generations. Seniors, retirees, stay at home moms and small business owners are members of this Meetup group and our objective is to have our voice heard by our elected representatives on issues that affect our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Nearly all of these members live in your district and are the people you have taken an oath to represent. A few live just outside your district and are not able to directly vote for you, but their jobs, tax dollars and children’s schools are in D25. Your every vote and word of legislation influences their daily lives. Congressman your words and false accusations insult these hard working Texans in and outside D25. Your acceptance of campaign donations from people and business enterprises located 200 – 2500 miles from D25, while feigning disdain for citizens living just outside D25 lacks veracity. Where do you draw the line Congressman? If you don’t want to answer to Central Texans living 1-10 miles outside D25 can you honestly take substantial campaign donations from businesses well outside D25? The fact Congressman, you asked all in attendance of the Randall’s event to sign in, you have the sign in sheets and know these are your constituents.
The August 1st town hall resulted in you and our supporters having a national voice. You use that national voice to prevaricate your constituents for asking questions about how you will represent them, which resulted in a flood of hate filled emails sent to me targeting myself and members of the Meetup group. Some said we should be held as enemy combatants and executed. Liberal thugs have tried to post our personal information on the web and they use other tactics to fear us into submission, and you have asked these thugs of MoveOn and OFA to work on your behalf for the August 29 rally held at The First United Methodist Church. MoveOn put out the call to have members show up at the Forest Lane Dart station (DALLAS) and board buses headed to this town hall at 9am sharp, and for the SAAPAC (SAN ANTONIO) to have their members board buses at 11am sharp. Were these folks registered to vote in your District Congressman? Why are our tax dollars being used by MoveOn and Dart to bus non-residents in for your publicity charade?
You contradicted yourself during your KVET interview assuring us you know the truth about the August 1st town hall. In that interview you say we came just to oppose you, shout you down and you are upset by the video placed on YouTube because “it looks like I was run out of Dodge showing only the last few minutes and not the hour before”. I’m confused Congressman did we shout you down or did we allow you to speak for an hour? The truth is you were unwilling to seek constituent input from the 250+ in attendance. During the interview, you also mention later town halls and how well they went. The same people were in attendance at the July 25, Aug. 1, 6, 8 and 9th town halls. Your vilification of our efforts has deepened, but rather than attack our ideas for reform you and your supporters attack us on a personal level. Inside the First Methodist Church (where you are a member) speakers and attendees said those who oppose HR 3200 are anti-Christian, hate Jesus, are ignorant and called us names that do not belong in a church. Congressman such vehement aspersions cannot go ignored, and asking MoveOn to provide protection as you exit the church only fuels the fire. Why would you need protection from stay at home moms, the elderly couple with a wheel chair, the gentleman on an oxygen tank or the lone renegade with a “NOBAMA Health Care” sign? You took an oath to represent all residents of D25, but you knowingly allow such hatred showing you represent a select group while allowing the majority on this issue to struggle for a voice.
Congressman it is apparent you are bitter about your constituents questioning you and sir you must understand this movement is not about you…rather it is about the destruction of everything that made America Great and honoring the men who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to experience freedom.
I am requesting a public apology Congressman Doggett and ask if you are a gentleman with the ability to admit when you are wrong.
